Aaryan Dinesh Kanagaratnam, popularly known as A. D. K. or just Dinesh Kanagaratnam, is a Sri Lankan R&B and hip hop performer and music producer who has written Tamil-language.
Dinesh was born and reared in the Sri Lankan city of Badulla. He studied information technology (IT) in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, India, before moving to Sri Lanka to teach IT courses. To further his burgeoning passion in music, he began working part-time with local musicians. Bathiya, a Sri Lankan singer, gave him a chance in 2004 and he began recording rap songs till he was found by Vijay Antony.
He worked with him on the song "Aathichudi"for the soundtrack of the film TN 07 AL 4777 (2008), in 2009, which is a remake of “Surangani” from his debut album, Tamizha. In 2005, he released a cross-cultural album in Sri Lanka, which had songs in Tamil, Sinhala, and English.
His next move was all over the place. In the film industry, his first collaboration with A. R. Rahman was "Magudi," for the Mani Ratnam-directed film “Kadal” (2013). In the film Manithan (2016), he co-starred with Anirudh Ravichander in the song "Mun Sellada," composed by Santhosh Narayanan. Kanagaratnam and rapper Sri Rascol founded the Rap Machine Record label and have released other rap recordings.
As a playback vocalist in Tamil cinema, he frequently collaborates with music directors.
And also he was featured on Marvel Studio's Ms. Marvel TV series.
His collaboration with S.P. Balasubramaniam, "Oh Nanba" was featured on the episode Generation Why of Ms. Marvel that was released recently.
